West Ham United 'fail with loan offer for Chelsea's Emerson Palmieri'

Chelsea turn down a loan approach from West Ham United for Emerson Palmieri, according to a report.

West Ham United have reportedly failed with a loan move for Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri.

The 26-year-old has only made nine appearances for the Blues during the 2020-21 campaign, having fallen down the pecking order following Ben Chilwell's summer arrival.

Emerson has only played 88 minutes of Premier League football this term, meanwhile, and continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

According to The Mirror, West Ham approached Chelsea with a loan offer for the left-back as they look to provide competition for Aaron Cresswell, with Arthur Masuaku currently on the sidelines.

However, the report claims that the Blues rejected the offer as head coach Frank Lampard wants Emerson to remain as cover for what could be a busy second half of the season.

The Italy international has a contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2022.
