Alan Pardew: 'Crystal Palace are prepared for penalties'

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew says that his players have practised penalties ahead of their FA Cup semi-final with Watford.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has said that his side are prepared for a penalty shootout should their FA Cup semi-final with Watford end in a draw.

With replays only being used until the quarter-finals, the last-four tie must be decided on Sunday afternoon, but Pardew has made it known that his players have practised from 12 yards out ahead of the showdown at Wembley Stadium.

The 54-year-old told reporters: "We've introduced it to training this week. It's a skill we want to be comfortable with.

"You can't recreate the tension of that walk up to the spot, but we want to be confident in our ability."

The Eagles are looking to reach the final of the competition for the first time since 1990, when they finished as runners-up to Manchester United.
