Leon Osman: 'John Stones, Ross Barkley will be England regulars'

Everton midfielder Leon Osman insists that John Stones and Ross Barkley will become key players for England in three years' time.

Everton midfielder Leon Osman is adamant that his teammates John Stones and Ross Barkley will be regulars in the England squad by the time of the next World Cup.

Both players have broken into the Three Lions side over the past year and Barkley was named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil, while Stones was on the stand-by list.

Osman has insisted that both players are progressing on track – despite an injury to Barkley – and will be core players for the tournament in Russia in 2018.

He told reporters: "I've no doubt the both of them, in two or three years' time, will be regulars in the first XI. They are on the right path. They are doing the right things."

Stones will be part of Hodgson's squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland on Monday.
