Experienced Spaniard Joan Capdevila has revealed that he will depart Espanyol on a free transfer in the summer.
The former La Roja international, who is out of contract at the end of this month, said his goodbyes to the supporters in the latter stages of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Osasuna.
"I couldn't have dreamed of a better goodbye, with so many family and friends at the stadium. Those five minutes were amongst the most special for me, in any stadium in Spain," he told the club's official television channel.
"It's something that we'd spoken about during the week and I'm grateful for what he did. I'll never forget it. It shows that managers are also people and have sentiments too.
"I'm very happy. The club have been phenomenal, has helped me every way possible and I'm satisfied with how the year has gone. My time at this club has been spectacular. I couldn't have asked for more and I would never have imagined I'd play for so long in the Primera."
Capdevila made 60 appearances for his country between 2002 and 2011.
