Half-Time Report: Everton and Tottenham Hotspur stuck in stalemate

Everton and Tottenham go into the break of their match locked at 0-0 after neither side can find the opening goal.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have gone into half time of their Premier League clash goalless this afternoon.

The hosts created a good chance to take the lead after just two minutes when Kevin Mirallas crossed to Steven Pienaar, who nodded the ball down to Leon Osman, but the midfielder's volley was well-blocked.

The Toffees almost broke away again seven minutes later as Nikica Jelavic looked to be clear through on goal, but Hugo Lloris was alert and reacted quickly to beat the Croat to the ball.

Osman came close again for Everton five minutes before the break after good work between Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini presented him with a shooting opportunity, but he couldn't direct his effort on target.

The Toffees then had a big shout for a penalty turned down as Clint Dempsey challenged Leon Osman and appeared to handle the ball while doing so, but the referee waved the claims away.
