Roberto Martinez looking to future with Everton

Everton boss Roberto Martinez claims that the current generation of players at the club have the potential to be "very successful", despite their disappointing season.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that the current generation of players at the club have the ability to be "very successful".

The Toffees are among the highest scorers in the Premier League this season, but find themselves languishing in 12th place following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United this afternoon.

The Everton players were booed off by the away fans at Old Trafford, and Martinez was keen to stress that he and his men share the frustration.

"We all are [booing]. I think you could hear our boos in the dressing room. It is exactly the same," he told reporters.

"We are a club that there has been a bit of a change of generation. A lot of players have come in but incredible young talent needs know-how and lessons and to develop. The frustration we all have is we can see the quality we have in our squad and we can't really gain some sort of momentum.

"But 1984 is the last time we got into the semi-finals of the two domestic cups and this generation can make us very successful."

Everton's next match sees them take on Watford at Vicarage Road.
