Freiburg held to a draw by Estoril Praia

Estoril Praia hold Freiburg to a 1-1 draw in this evening's Europa League match.

Freiburg have been held to a 1-1 draw at home to Estoril Praia in the Europa League this evening.

The hosts had gone ahead early on but, despite remaining in control for much of the 90 minutes, were pegged back by their opponents in the second half.

After a good start by the visitors, it was Freiburg who created the game's first real chance when Jonathan Schmid released Admir Mehmedi, but the striker saw his effort well saved.

Shortly afterwards, they were ahead, thanks largely to some poor defending from Estoril. Schmid broke forward once again and found Vladimir Darida, whose deflected effort gave the hosts an early lead.

They remained comfortable for the remainder of the half but neither side really tested their opponent's goalkeeper in the first 45 minutes.

Moments after the break however, Estoril were level. Junior Seba beat the offside trap and collected Luis Leal's through ball before firing low past the goalkeeper.

Freiburg missed a couple of chances to win the game late on. First Mehmedi flicked the ball just wide from a cross, then moments later the striker saw his effort saved by the goalkeeper.

That was the last real chance of the game as the teams shared the points in Group H.
