Celia Sasic and Anja Mittag star in Germany rout against Ivory Coast

Germany start their 2015 Women's World Cup campaign in grand style with a thumping 10-0 win against Ivory Coast in Ottawa.

Celia Sasic and Anja Mittag scored hat-tricks as Germany's quest to win the 2015 Women's World Cup began in fine fashion with a comprehensive 10-0 victory over Ivory Coast.

Having seen likely Group B rivals Norway win easily against Thailand, Germany were in mood to lose ground on the Scandanavians as Sasic opened her account after latching onto Leonie Maier's cross with only three minutes on the clock.

Sasic netted her second on 15 minutes as the Ivorians struggled to withstand the relentless attacking of the seven-time European champions.

Germany's dominance continued as Lena Goessling teed up Mittag for her first of the game and, two minutes later, Sasic completed her hat-trick as selfless play from Mittag allowed the FFC Frankfurt forward to tap in.

However, Mittag wouldn't be denied for long as she netted her second of the game to give the Germans a 5-0 half-time lead.

The 30-year-old forward completed her own hat-trick midway through the second half as the two-time world champions showed no sign of taking their foot on the gas.

They scored a seventh with 71 minutes as Simone Laudehr's sprinted down the left wing before slotting past Dominique Thiamale.

Sara Dabritz then added an eighth before Germany made it nine with 11 minutes left as Melanie Behringer smashed home from 12 yards out.

On 86 minutes, Germany reached doubled figures thanks to a low Alexandra Popp free kick, although replays suggest that Thiamale's wall was poorly positioned, allowing Popp to take aim at the left corner of the net.
