League Two roundup: Gillingham extend lead in poor day for top teams

Gillingham extend their lead at the top of League Two as the top four sides all fail to register victory.

Gillingham increased their lead at the top of League Two by a point on a day where none of the top four teams could force a victory.

The Gills drew 1-1 at Aldershot, a result which looked better following Port Vale's 2-1 loss at Oxford United and Burton Albion's 3-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers.

A 20th goal of the season from veteran Jamie Cureton helped Exeter become the main beneficiaries after their 3-0 win over fellow promotion-chasers Northampton Town.

A crucial injury-time winner from Anthony Stewart gave Wycombe a 1-0 victory over Fleetwood, while Plymouth moved off the foot of the table after winning 2-1 against Barnet.

Morecambe ran out convincing 3-0 winners against Rochdale and Cheltenham kept up their promotion hopes with a 2-1 victory over now bottom side Wimbledon.
