John McGlynn says that Hearts will "challenge" the new transfer embargo imposed on them by the Scottish Premier League.

Hearts manager John McGlynn has said that the club will appeal against the Scottish Premier League's decision to impose a transfer embargo on them.

The SPL announced on Thursday that they are penalising the Edinburgh-based outfit for failing to make payments to players.

"We're going to challenge it," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "It's difficult to talk about it because we're going through lawyers."

Hearts, who will also face a disciplinary hearing, are currently ninth in the Scottish Premier League table.
