Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Brett Pitman give Ipswich Town victory over Bolton Wanderers

Goals from Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Brett Pitman give Ipswich Town a 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

A goal in each half has given Ipswich Town a 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

Gary Madine missed the target with two minutes on the clock and Kevin Bru failed to test Ben Amos from long range two minutes later.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles gave Ipswich the lead after 14 minutes, when his first-time effort hit the back of the net from Daryl Murphy's cross.

The Tractor Boys continued to attack, and Brett Pitman's close-range shot was blocked before Amos saved Freddie Sears's effort from a tight angle.

Darren Pratley had a go from long range as Bolton tried to get back into the game but his shot was stopped by Dean Gerken. The Bolton captain tested Gerken again before half time but his header was saved.

It took until the 67th minute for either team to test the opposition goalkeeper in the second half, and David Wheater's header was tipped over the crossbar by Gerken.

Pitman doubled Ipswich's lead with their next attack when he fired into the top right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Ipswich looked the most likely team to score in the final 20 minutes and Pitman twice had chances to score his second.

Tommy Smith then headed wide from Bru's corner and shots from Murphy and Sears were both saved by Amos.
