Alan Gordon has scored a stoppage-time winner to fire the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo.
The visitors were the first team to threaten when Will Bruin raided through the middle to the edge of the box, but his powerful strike was well saved by Jaime Penedo.
The Galaxy came within inches of taking the lead as Omar Gonzalez headed a corner from Stefan Ishizaki towards goal, but his effort was cleared off the line by Jermaine Taylor.
Los Angeles came close again when Ishizaki's attempted strike from a free kick was blocked into the path of Mika Vayrynen, but his shot from the edge of the box cannoned off the crossbar.
Gordon nearly made an impact coming off the bench in the second half when he found space to fire a strike at goal from inside the box, only to see his effort well blocked by Nathan Sturgis.
The home side did find the crucial breakthrough in the 92nd minute when Robbie Keane lifted the ball into the path of Gordon, who headed past Tyler Deric from close range.
The Galaxy were forced to end the game with 10 men when Oscar Sorta was sent off, but they managed to hold out to secure the victory.
