Claudio Ranieri "positive" despite defeat

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri insists that he is "positive" despite seeing his side suffer another league defeat.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has insisted that he is "positive" despite seeing his side slump to their sixth Premier League defeat of the season.

The Foxes were forced to leave Vicarage Road empty-handed this afternoon after two early goals helped Watford to seal all three points and leave the defending league champions 14th in the table, just two points above the dropzone.

Ranieri's men did pull a goal back through a Riyad Mahrez penalty just 15 minutes later but were unable to find parity as the remainder of the encounter went goalless.

"I said to my players 'well done' as they tried to do everything. At the beginning we were losing 2-0, but we got back in the match," Ranieri told BBC Sport afterwards.

"Of course Watford defended very well. We tried to do our best, the second half was intense but we did not created good chances.

"Their two goals made the match. Our performance was good, the spirit was good and I am positive. When you play with this spirit, I'm positive."

Leicester next welcome Club Brugge to the Midlands in the Champions League in midweek, before Middlesbrough visit the King Power in the league next weekend.
