Adam Lallana 'embracing' deeper midfield role at Liverpool

Liverpool ace Adam Lallana claims that he has "enjoyed" playing in a midfield trio, but admits there is still room for improvement.

Adam Lallana has admitted that he is happy to play in any position for Liverpool and hopes to improve his all-round game as a result.

The England international was asked to drop deep into a midfield trio during Sunday's meeting with Arsenal, alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.

Lallana, who powered forward early in the second half to score a crucial goal for his side in the eventual 4-3 victory, has now told boss Jurgen Klopp that he is willing to continue playing in that position.

"I've enjoyed it. I feel like I'm still learning the role and I'll probably still be learning the role throughout the season - you can always get better," he told the club's official website.

"But I've been watching different players that play in that position and it was great to play against Barcelona and some top teams in pre-season to get good run-outs against them. I'm enjoying it and [this is] a squad full of great players.

"If you look around, there are a lot of players that can play in two or three positions, which definitely helps. It's a different role but one I'll embrace and I'll play wherever the manager wants me to play as long as it benefits the team."

Lallana featured on 49 occasions for Liverpool in all competitions last season and a further 11 times for England.
