Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has defended midfielder Jay Spearing as he prepares to make his return from suspension.
Spearing, 23, was shown a red card for his foul on Fulham's Moussa Dembele during their 1-0 defeat to the Cottagers earlier this month. However, Dalglish has dismissed the idea that the midfielder must change his approach to the game.
"There was no maliciousness in his tackle," said the Scot, according to The Mirror. "He was totally focused on winning the ball but his momentum came through and made contact.
"It was maybe over-enthusiasm but that is not something you'd complain about in football – at that age you'd expect him to be.
"I'm sure he'll be more knowledgeable for his experience but there is nothing he needs to change greatly."
Liverpool are next scheduled to welcome Steve Kean's struggling Blackburn to Anfield.
