Sports Mole looks ahead to this Saturday's Premier League encounter between Liverpool and Southampton at Anfield.

Liverpool welcome Southampton to Anfield on Saturday as the Merseyside outfit continue to struggle to rack up victories in the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers's side take on the Saints three days after losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur, despite the Reds having largely controlled the encounter at White Hart Lane, which has left Rodgers and his team frustrated ahead of this weekend.

Meanwhile, former Championship outfit Southampton are producing encouraging results in recent weeks following their 3-1 win over fellow struggling side Queens Park Rangers a fortnight ago and manager Nigel Adkins will be hoping to keep up their unbeaten run.

Liverpool can move up towards the top 10 in the table with a win, while the Saints can climb out of the relegation zone if they get a scalp on Merseyside.

Jonjo Shelvey may return to the starting lineup for the Reds after his substitute appearance against Spurs, while Adkins should trust Rickie Lambert to provide the goals for Southampton on Saturday.
