Barcelona have reportedly identified Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah as a potential alternative to Borussia Dortmund frontman Erling Braut Haaland.
Despite their well-documented financial issues, a big-money loan is expected to put the Catalan giants in a position to make at least one major addition this summer.
If reports are to be believed, Haaland is their priority target, the Norway international's alleged release clause of £67m said to be a fee too good to turn down.
However, according to AS, there is an acceptance at Camp Nou that they face major competition from Manchester City, leaving club officials to consider other options.
The report suggests that Barcelona could make an approach for Salah, with the club legend yet to extend his contract at Anfield past the end of 2022-23.
Liverpool are reportedly unprepared to increase the terms put to Salah any higher, leaving the club's top goalscorer to consider his future.
Barcelona are said to be willing to spend as much as £55m on Salah, who turns 30 years of age in June.
