Can: 'Contract dispute not about money'

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can admits that his Anfield future remains uncertain, with his contract due to expire at the end of the campaign.

Emre Can has insisted that the impasse in talks with Liverpool over a new contract "is not about money", amid ongoing links with a move to Italian champions Juventus.

The 23-year-old, also linked with a switch to Bayern Munich, has failed to agree fresh terms with the Reds and is allowed to talk to other clubs from next month over a Bosman transfer.

Can could feasibly pen a pre-contract agreement with Juve at the start of January, but the Germany international has hinted that he has yet to make a decision over his future beyond the end of the campaign.

Asked whether he intends to remain at Anfield, Can told the Liverpool Echo: "Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.

"It is not about money, that's all I can say. Yes I could [sign a pre-contract with another club next month], but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We'll see."

Germany chief Oliver Bierhoff claimed earlier this week that there is a 60-80% chance Can will leave Liverpool next summer.
