Liverpool are reportedly in the race for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz despite recent speculation that the Reds were not in the running for the German.
Havertz scored 20 times in 42 appearances for Leverkusen during the 2019-20 campaign, while the 20-year-old has started this season with two goals in five outings in all competitions.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Germany international over the last 12 months, but a recent report claimed that Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were the four clubs battling to secure the attacker's services.
According to Bild, though, the Champions League winners are in the fight to sign Havertz, who appears likely to leave the BayArena in next summer's transfer window.
Liverpool's lack of creation from a midfield position has been a big talking point over the last couple of seasons, but Jurgen Klopp's side did not improve in that area of field during the summer.
The Merseyside giants suffered their first defeat of the 2019-20 campaign on Tuesday night as Napoli recorded a 2-0 win in their Champions League Group E opener.
