Bayern Munich defender David Alaba is allegedly open to a transfer to the Premier League, a development which is said to have alerted Manchester City and Liverpool.

Manchester City and Liverpool have reportedly been handed a boost in the race to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

Despite spending almost a decade at the Allianz Arena, the Austria international has just under eight months remaining on his contract.

A lack of willingness to agree fresh terms has alerted a number of top European clubs, particularly in La Liga with the 28-year-old said to prefer a switch to Spain.

However, while interest is expected from Real Madrid and Barcelona, 90 min claims that Alaba is still prepared to consider a transfer to the Premier League.

Man City and Liverpool were monitoring the situation earlier this year until it emerged that the player was seemingly waiting for an offer from elsewhere.

Alaba has still made nine appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.
