Roberto Mancini: 'Manchester City can regain Premier League title'

Roberto Mancini says the title race is over this year for Manchester City but that they can regain their crown next season.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has insisted that his side can regain their Premier League crown next season.

The title race looks to be all but over this year, with Manchester United sitting 12 points clear at the top of the table despite losing 2-1 to their local rivals on Monday night at Old Trafford.

However, the Italian is certain that United will lift the trophy this campaign.

"We know we can win the title next season but this year we made some mistakes," Mancini told BBC Sport.

"It is unfortunate, we can do nothing. This season the title is gone."

"The championship is finished. United have won a lot of games and they lost their last game against Norwich in November, a long time ago."

City face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
