Everton midfielder Ross Barkley "gutted" about John Stones move to Man City

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley says that he is "gutted" by John Stones's decision to leave the club to join Manchester City.

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has admitted that he is "gutted" to see teammate John Stones leave the club to join Manchester City.

The 22-year-old centre-back sealed a £47.5m transfer to the two-time Premier League champions today, making him the most expensive defender in Britain.

England internationals Barkley and Stones played together for three years at Goodison Park, and the former took to Instagram to express his sadness at his teammate's departure.

The midfielder wrote: "Gutted to see my mate leave today, going to miss him around the place and on the pitch. All the best lad."

Barkley himself was linked to Manchester City last year, but is expected to be part of Ronald Koeman's first season at Everton.
