Darius Vassell wants Manuel Pellegrini to remain at Manchester City

Former Manchester City striker Darius Vassell suggests that Manuel Pellegrini should be given another season at the current Premier League champions.

Former Manchester City striker Darius Vassell has said that Manuel Pellegrini should be given another season in charge at the Eithad.

City's title hopes took a major blow on Monday evening following a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, leaving the current champions in fourth position in the Premier League table.

"I would like to think he will [remain at City next season]," said Vassell, according to Goal.com.

"But it tends to not work out that way. Managers are dismissed or let go too easily.

"Given the expenditure of teams as big as Manchester City you can see why owners want to get it right as soon as possible and get a return from their investment."

City's recent defeat sees them sitting nine points behind leaders Chelsea, who also have a game in hand.
