Lionel Messi has reportedly moved no nearer to leaving Barcelona, despite his father Jorge holding discussions with the club.
Ever since informing the Catalan giants of his desire to leave Camp Nou, the relevant parties have been at loggerheads over a fee.
While Messi feels that he can activate an option in his contract which would allow him to become a free agent, Barcelona insist that the 33-year-old can only depart if any interested club is prepared to pay his £630m release clause.
In an attempt to make a breakthrough in negotiations, Messi's father travelled from Argentina to speak with president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
However, according to the Daily Mail, it was reiterated that Barcelona were not prepared to negotiate a compromise over a fee.
Although they have little intention of meeting the demands of the La Liga runners-up, Manchester City remain the favourites to sign the superstar over the coming weeks.
