Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be available again at Christmas after being stretchered off with an ankle injury against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Armenian international suffered the blow in the final 10 minutes of United's victory, in which he scored the only goal of the game at Old Trafford.
Immediately after the game, Mourinho revealed that the injury was not serious, and now he has indicated that the 27-year-old will be back before the end of the year.
"Hopefully, Mkhitaryan can play at Christmas," Mourinho told reporters during Monday's press conference. "We believe it's possible. When I saw him on the stretcher, I thought it was more difficult; when I watch the tackle on TV, I was a bit scared, but no. It's a pity, because he's going to miss matches in his best period, but at least we won't lose a player for so long."
United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, six points adrift of the top four.
