Hernandez relishes competition at Manchester United

Javier Hernandez says that the competition for places at Manchester United is "incredible".

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has admitted that he understands why he will not start every game for the club.

The Mexican bagged the winning goal against Newcastle United last night, helping the Red Devils to pull seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the league.

Hernandez has notched six league goals in total this season, but has to compete with Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Robin van Persie for a starting berth.

"Ask any player in the world and they will tell you they want to play every game," Sky Sports News quotes Hernandez as saying. "But the competition here is incredible.

"It is the biggest club in the world. You need to be aware there are five strikers who want to be part of the games.

"I have to prove, in one minute or 90, that I want to start."

Hernandez has scored 28 goals in 43 appearances for Mexico.
