Wayne Rooney: We will "easily" win title back

Wayne Rooney admits that Manchester United failed to play to their potential this season.

Wayne Rooney believes that Manchester United can "easily" wrestle back the Premier League title from their clutches of their rivals Manchester City.

The England international said that the Red Devils gifted Roberto Mancini's men the title after blowing an eight-point lead but will reclaim their crown if they play to full potential next season.

"We have given the title to City, but if we play well from the beginning to end, we will win the title back easily," said Rooney. "We received a lot of criticism this season but we have got nine points better than last season.

"City played their best football and we didn't always play our best football but we still finished on the same points.

"So it makes you think that if we play our best football consistently throughout the season, then we are going to win the league by many points."

Rooney scored 27 league goals this season, finishing second in the charts behind Robin van Persie.
