Wayne Rooney's overhead strike against Manchester City is among the nominees for FIFA's goal of 2011 award.

Wayne Rooney's overhead kick that settled last season's Manchester derby at Old Trafford has been named on a ten-goal shortlist to win FIFA's strike of the year for 2011.

Also on the list is Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovanni dos Santos, who has received recognition for his chipped effort while on international duty with Mexico against the USA.

Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar have all been nominated for the award, which has been named after former Hungarian international Ferenc Puskas.

The winner will be announced in early January.
