Manchester United's Chris Smalling hopes to continue making an "impact"

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling says that he hopes to make an "impact" against Watford this weekend.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has claimed that the main priority is to extend the team's unbeaten run to five Premier League games when they take on Watford on Saturday.

Smalling, who has been in fine form this season, has helped United keep clean sheets in their last four top-flight games.

There were concerns over the centre-back's fitness when he limped off the pitch in England's defeat to Spain last week and was not used in Tuesday's win over France.

However, the 25-year-old has insisted that he has no fitness worries ahead of this weekend's fixture.

"I'm fighting fit and I'm feeling good to go again," Smalling told MUTV. "It's nice that this run keeps on going and, more importantly, that the performances keep going because you can play every game but you must make that impact. I'm looking forward to making another impact on Saturday."

Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Marouane Fellaini and Antonio Valencia have all been ruled out of this weekend's trip to Vicarage Road.
