Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints that teenage striking sensation Joe Hugill is not too far away from a senior call-up.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that teenage striker Joe Hugill could soon earn a call-up to the Red Devils' first team.

The Englishman has been in sensational form for the Under-23s team this season, scoring eight goals in 11 Premier League 2 appearances, with four of those strikes coming in Saturday's 6-3 win over Liverpool.

Hugill has also found the back of the net six times for the Under-18s team this term, and Solskjaer - while also mentioning fellow youngster Amad Diallo - does not think that Hugill is too far away from a first-team call-up.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, the United manager said of Diallo: "We're gonna give him the time to settle in. If we go from that game [vs Liverpool], I'd pick Joe Hugill.

"Four goals by Hugill, he's a top striker as well, we're looking forward to seeing his development. Amad gets a good start and why Joe didn't take the penalty himself to get five goals... I'm going to ask him."

As well as bagging 14 goals for the youth teams this season, Hugill has also set up his teammates twice.
