Carlo Ancelotti: 'Gareth Bale too important to be sold'

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti moves to play down speculation linking Gareth Bale with a £100m move to Manchester United.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has played down reports linking Gareth Bale with a mega-money move to Manchester United.

United have been tipped to make a world-record £100m summer bid for the Welshman, who earlier insisted that he was staying in the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti has now revealed that the 25-year-old - who scored in helping the Blancos to Champions League and Copa del Rey glory last season - is 'too important' to be sold.

"He's one of our most important players and he won't be leaving. There are no problems, rumours or questions," the Italian told reporters.

Madrid would reportedly consider the sale if United included goalkeeper David de Gea as a makeweight in the prospective deal.

Earlier on Tuesday, Real president Florentino Perez also poured cold water on the move.
