Angelo Henriquez has been advised not to join Manchester United by his coach at Universidad de Chile.
Recent speculation has claimed that the Red Devils had agreed to sign the 18-year-old striker for a fee in the region of £3m.
However, Jorge Sampaoli believes that the youngster should continue his development with his current employers before moving on to pastures new.
"We don't agree much with the idea of a player leaving so young, but we don't know what previous agreements are there," Sampaoli told Prensafutbol.cl.
"It would be painful for the club for him to leave at such a young age and not allow us to enjoy his development.
"It seems we are suffering from the same problem that affects Argentina, with young players leaving more and more early."
Henriquez scored six goals in nine outings last season.
