Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that he will sign Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha in January if the opportunity presents itself.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a temporary move away from Old Trafford in January having made just two appearances in the Premier League this season.
The Magpies have joined the hunt for the highly-rated youngster, with Pardew confirming that the club will rival West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace for Zaha "if an opportunity arises".
He told reporters: "He's a Manchester United player, as far as I'm concerned. He's a player I know well. He played for my old team [Palace].
"He was absolutely phenomenal when they got promoted and he got a big move to Manchester United. Unfortunately, his career has stalled but, if an opportunity arises, we'll grasp it. If not, we won't."
The North East outfit were reported to have headed the queue for Zaha earlier this week.
