Manchester United have reportedly been told by Barcelona that they have no chance of signing Ousmane Dembele ahead of Monday evening's transfer deadline.
The Red Devils had been hopeful of convincing Barca to loan them the France international for the remainder of 2020-21, with the option of a permanent switch next summer.
However, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims that it is now fully confirmed that Dembele will not be going anywhere this window.
Barca would supposedly have been more open to accepting United's offer of a loan arrangement had the 23-year-old first extended his contract, which runs through to 2022.
United have also been knocked back in their pursuit of Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr, while free agent Edinson Cavani has yet to officially put pen to paper.
However, Porto left-back Alex Telles was confirmed as United's second signing of the summer earlier today, following the arrival of Donny van de Beek last month.
