Report: Manchester United confident of Dani Alves deal

Dani Alves is likely to sign for Manchester United this summer, according to reports.

Manchester United are the favourites to sign Barcelona full-back Dani Alves, according to reports.

The 32-year-old is out of contract this summer and is expected to leave Camp Nou in search of a new challenge, despite the Spanish champions offering him fresh terms.

Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with the Brazilian, but The Guardian reports that United are in pole position to land his signature, if Louis van Gaal wishes to press ahead with the deal.

The paper claims that Van Gaal has been told that he must challenge to win the Premier League next season, and he intends to sign proven winners to help his side to also compete for the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Alves is expected to start for Barcelona in the Champions League final this weekend.
