The reported amount that Manchester United would need to pay Erik ten Hag if they were to dismiss the Dutchman is disclosed.

The amount Manchester United would need to pay Erik ten Hag if they were to dismiss the Dutchman has been disclosed, according to a report.

Ten Hag's position at the club was under serious question at the end of last season when the Red Devils slumped to their worst-ever finish in the Premier League, but the United hierarchy opted to retain the Dutchman after he steered them to the FA Cup title against Manchester City.

However, after an underwhelming start to the current campaign, pressure has been mounting on the Red Devils' manager again, especially following their 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

The former Ajax boss is now the clear favourite with bookmakers to be the next Premier League manager to be dismissed.

The 54-year-old's current deal runs until the end of next season, and according to a report, the amount Man United would need to pay to terminate his contract has now been revealed.

How much will Man United have to pay to sack Ten Hag?

As per GOAL, Man United would have to fork over £17.5m to part ways with Ten Hag due to the one-year contract extension that was agreed upon between the parties in the summer.

The report adds that this amount is £7.5m more than it would have cost to axe the Dutchman in June, and roughly half of the savings from the redundancies of about 250 staff members following INEOS's takeover earlier this year.

Following the 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Ten Hag was questioned about whether he thinks he might be dismissed.

He said: "I am not thinking about this. We all made in the summer the decision to stay together, as an ownership, a leadership group.

"We made the decision from a clear review of what we have to improve and how we want to construct a squad. But we knew it will take some time, how the window went, some players late in like [Manuel] Ugarte.

"Also we have to make some improvement in the organisation, we still have some injuries, we need some time. We are all on one page or in one boat together, the ownership, the staff and the players as well. I don't have that concern."

United currently sit in 12th place in the Premier League table, having lost three of their first six matches of the season.

Man United hierarchy still back Ten Hag to turn performances around

Despite the speculation that Ten Hag could be dismissed soon, Sky Sports have reported that Manchester United are not contemplating any changes.

The report indicates that the Dutchman retains the backing of the Red Devils' football leadership structure, who have no immediate plans to dismiss the manager.

It is understood that while there is consensus that the lack of performance in the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham was unacceptable, the hierarchy's current focus is on supporting the Dutchman, his coaching staff, and the players to improve their situation.

The thrashing by Tottenham on Sunday marked a consecutive 3-0 home league defeat for United, following a similar comprehensive loss to Liverpool.

Additionally, the Red Devils have failed to score in three of their last four league matches, and only 19th-placed Southampton have had more difficulty finding the net than them this season.
