Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to comment on the club's reported pursuit of Raphael Varane when asked about the Real Madrid centre-back at the weekend.
The Red Devils started their preparations for the 2021-22 campaign with a 2-1 victory over Championship side Derby County at Pride Park on Sunday afternoon.
After the pre-season contest, Solskjaer was quizzed by reporters on a possible move for Varane, who continues to be heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
However, the Norwegian, while also referencing Jadon Sancho, said that he was not prepared to discuss players at other clubs.
Man United are thought to have made significant progress in their pursuit of Varane, who has already allegedly agreed personal terms with the 20-time English champions.
The Red Devils are now believed to be in talks with Real Madrid over a transfer fee for the France international.
Varane, out of contract at the Bernabeu next June, has also reportedly emerged as a target for Chelsea, but Man United are believed to be in the driving seat when it comes to the 28-year-old.
