Manchester United are reportedly planning to utilise Callum Wilson's place in the England national team as part of their attempt to sign the Bournemouth frontman in January.

The Red Devils are widely expected to prioritise the addition of a new striker in January as Romelu Lukaku's departure in the summer left them with only Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood up front.

Bournemouth striker Wilson is believed to be the club's top target, and now The Sun reports that United hope to use the player's England hopes to influence negotiations.

The 27-year-old has scored one goal in three games for Gareth Southgate's side and is in the squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers with the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

The report suggests that United will tempt Wilson with the chance to cement his place in the national squad ahead of Euro 2020 by moving to a club of United's stature.

The striker has scored five goals in seven Premier League games this season for Eddie Howe's men.
