Empoli have confirmed that Mirko Valdifiori will undergo a medical with Napoli this weekend, ahead of completing a move to the Partenopei.
The midfielder enjoyed an impressive season with the Azzurri and he helped the club to survive in their first season back in Serie A.
Valdifiori will now link up with his former manager Maurizio Sarri, who was appointed the new head coach of Napoli last week.
"As far as we are concerned, Valdifiori's transfer to Napoli is concluded," Empoli's sporting director Marcello Carli told Tuttomercatoweb.
"We thank the lad for these years together and wish him all the best. He deserves this chance and I personally hope he has a great season.
"I'm sure he and Sarri will help each other out in this new adventure, as they are two great professionals. The medical has been set for tomorrow morning."
Valdifiori made his debut for Italy in a 1-1 draw against England in March.
