Frank Lampard rules out loan move back to England in order to focus on fitness

Former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard rules out a loan move back to the Premier League when the MLS season ends.

Frank Lampard has ruled out a loan move back to the Premier League when the MLS season ends.

The former England international joined New York City FC in July, but with injuries limiting his playing time to just eight games since, Lampard says that he needs rest in order to prepare for next season.

"I need the rest to be fully fit next year for the club," he told reporters. "I wish I could have not had the injuries, but every player has to accept that injuries come along sometimes.

"My aim now is to manage myself well for next season, to finish this season on a high, have some breaks at times, but keep ticking over, have a really good pre-season and throw everything into next year."

New York City have two games remaining in their debut season after failing to qualify for the MLS Eastern Conference playoffs.
