Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has revealed that he is eager to secure European qualification with the team this season.
The 24-year-old joined the Magpies on a free transfer from local rivals Sunderland back in June.
With Newcastle having signed six new players already this summer, Colback is confident that the side can improve on last season's 10th-place finish.
"We've got to be looking at a minimum top-10 finish and then push on to get around the Tottenhams and Evertons and be able to compete against the top four or five teams, not just going out looking not to lose," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com.
"The signings the manager has brought in - coupled with the players already here - will give us the chance to do that I think and it's looking good."
Newcastle play their final pre-season fixture on Sunday when they entertain Real Sociedad.
