Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren: 'We have to rise to Leicester City test'

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren believes that his side will have to produce their best football to earn a positive result from their clash against Leicester City.

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has called on his players to rise to the challenge of beating high-flying Leicester City in their Premier League clash.

The Magpies claimed their second win of the season before the international break as a strike from Ayoze Perez fired them to victory over Bournemouth at Dean Court.

McClaren has confessed that his side will face a difficult test against the Foxes, who are currently third in the table, and believes that his team will need to produce their best to claim the three points.

He told the club's official website: "What they've done is fantastic. Even last season, the run they had to get out of the bottom three was amazing and I think Nigel Pearson deserves a lot of credit for that but [Claudio] Ranieri has come in and done a great job.

"He hasn't tinkered too much and adapted very well coming back to the Premier League. They're a team that have gone from strength to strength, Ranieri has kept what they had but only developed it. They don't concede many goals, especially from open play.

"They'll be hard to beat but it's up to us to put in the performance and fight we need to win the game."

Newcastle face Leicester at St James' Park tomorrow.
