Newcastle United have reportedly held 'informal talks' with Remi Garde over the managerial vacancy at St James' Park.
The former Lyon coach is understood to be among the favourites to take charge of the club following Alan Pardew's recent departure to Crystal Palace.
Garde, 48, has held preliminary discussions with Newcastle during the past 24 hours, according to Sky Sports News.
The ex-France and Arsenal midfielder has been out of work since leaving Lyon in the summer.
John Carver is currently in charge of the Magpies on a caretaker basis, but he has warned the club that a lengthy search for a new manager could be disruptive to the team.
