Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew claims that his side were "flat" after their 2-0 win at Swansea City.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that his side were "flat" during their 2-0 win at Swansea City.

Despite being out of possession for large parts of the game, the Magpies claimed the three points thanks to Papiss Cisse's brace.

"We were flat today, some of our flair players looked like they needed energy, but we have discipline and a good camaraderie in the team that saw us through," Pardew told Sky Sports News.

"We sacrificed possession, we knew we had to be patient and we knew they were vulnerable in certain areas."

Pardew also singled out Cisse for special praise after the January signing from Freiburg took his tally to nine goals in his first eight games for the club.

"Papiss Cisse is no mystery, he's scored lots of goals in Germany and we're lucky to have him," Pardew added. "It's a fantastic win for us, and our home games could see us through to getting fifth or sixth place."

The win has moved Newcastle past Chelsea and into fifth place in the Premier League table.
