Fulham have reportedly identified Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle as one of their top transfer targets for the summer window.
The Cottagers are back in the Championship after a one-year stay in the Premier League, leaving new boss Scott Parker to put together a squad capable of challenging for promotion.
Parker is said to be keen to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic at Craven Cottage, despite interest in the frontman's signature from England's top flight and La Liga.
However, The Express suggests that Parker is still willing to spend as much as £20m in order to secure the services of Gayle, who netted 24 goals at the second tier for West Bromwich Albion during the most recent campaign.
Fulham may have to wait until Newcastle resolve the future of manager Rafael Benitez as the Spaniard's contract continues to run down at St James' Park.
Gayle still has two years left on his own deal at the North-East outfit.
