Newcastle United have reportedly targeted Toulouse full-back Cheikh M'Bengue as a possible replacement for Davide Santon.
The Magpies are believed to be fearful of losing the Italian international in the summer and are already making contingency plans should he be tempted from St James' Park.
M'Bengue, 24, was a one-time target of Arsenal, but the Daily Mail reports that he could become the latest Ligue 1-based player to arrive in the North East.
The French-born defender has won 10 caps for Senegal, despite representing the country of his birth at Under-21 level.
He came through the youth ranks at his hometown club and made his debut in 2007.
