Billy Sharp wants Reading stay

Billy Sharp wants his loan deal from Southampton to Reading made permanent in the New Year.

Reading striker Billy Sharp has said that he wants to remain with the Championship club on a permanent deal.

The 27-year-old's current loan contract with the Royals ends on January 2 when he will have to return to his parent club Southampton.

"I want to get settled," he told Get Reading. "I want to be loyal to a football club, I don't want to keep moving around anymore. I want to play, help the team and score goals.

"I know I haven't got a future at Southampton so I just want to perform to the best of my abilities for the next few weeks and then I will speak to the gaffer and we will see what we can do for the long term."

Sharp joined Southampton from Doncaster Rovers in January 2012.
