Report: Iker Casillas safe from Real Madrid axe

A report claims that Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas still has the full confidence of boss Carlo Ancelotti and will keep his place for the game against Basel.

Iker Casillas will reportedly keep his place in the Real Madrid XI for this week's Champions League clash against Basel.

The Spanish goalkeeper was whistled by some sections of the Bernabeu crowd during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the league.

The experienced stopper also had a difficult summer for Spain at the World Cup, making a number of high-profile errors in Brazil.

However, according to AS, Casillas still has the full backing of Real head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Summer signing Keylor Navas is waiting in the wings to replace Casillas, having joined from Levante.
