Rafael Benitez gives insight into tactics

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez gives an insight into the roles of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in his XI this season.

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has revealed that Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo 'both have the freedom to move' in the Spanish side's system this season.

Bale was restricted to a wide position in the 2014-15 campaign, but has started Benitez's tenure in a central berth.

The Los Blancos boss has said that Bale and Ronaldo have both taken to their new roles, in addition to mentioning the importance of the likes of James Rodriguez, Isco and Karim Benzema.

"They have freedom to move, but we are creating moves in which the players have to pass and move. We have spoken to both of them about the moves they make," Benitez told reporters.

"We have mapped it out for them on paper so that they understand. Bale has pace and Cristiano drifts inside and the balance [in attack] with James, Isco and Benzema is designed to create problems for our rivals. Included in the equation is the moves both full-backs make when they join the attack."

During Saturday's 6-0 win over Espanyol, Ronaldo scored five times and Bale provided two assists, in addition to winning a penalty.
