Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo vows to avoid press until end of the season

Cristiano Ronaldo vows to avoid speaking to the press until the end of the season following Real Madrid's poor performance against Schalke in the Champions League.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he will not speak to the media until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old made the vow of silence after the Spanish giants just scraped through to the Champions League quarter-finals at the expense of Schalke 04.

Carlo Ancelotti's side succumbed to a 4-3 defeat at the Bernabeu, but their 2-0 triumph from the first leg in Germany helped push them through to the final eight.

After the full-time whistle, Madrid fans jeered the players and some waved white handkerchiefs to express their discontent at the performance.

Ronaldo, who scored two goals in the match, looked visibly frustrated, and after the game he told reporters: "I'm not going to talk. I won't talk to the press again until the end of the season."

Despite the poor performance, Ronaldo made history by becoming the highest goalscorer in European competitions.
